Low testosterone, plainly explained.
Low T isn't a vibe. It's a measurable hormonal deficiency that affects roughly 1 in 4 men over 30 — and a lot of us walk around with it for years thinking it's just "getting older."
Symptoms we hear every day
No single symptom proves low T, and you don't need all of them. But if several of these have been weighing on you, getting tested is the move:
Energy & mood
- Tired all the time, even with sleep
- Brain fog, can't focus
- Mood crashes, irritability
- Lost drive or ambition
- Anxiety or low mood with no obvious cause
Body & performance
- Strength dropping despite training
- Stubborn belly fat, lost muscle
- Slower recovery from workouts
- Joint aches without a clear cause
- Sleep that doesn't restore
Sexual health
- Low or absent libido
- Weaker erections or ED
- Loss of morning erections
- Less satisfaction overall
Who's a good candidate for TRT?
Generally, you're a candidate if all three of these are true:
- You have multiple symptoms from the list above.
- Your labs confirm clinically low testosterone on at least two readings — usually morning total T below the lab's reference range, with low free T and appropriate LH levels.
- You don't have a condition that makes TRT inappropriate (we'll go through that with you).
Who shouldn't start TRT?
We won't prescribe TRT if any of these apply. We say so up front because we'd rather lose the sale than put you in a bad spot:
- Active prostate cancer or untreated breast cancer
- Severe untreated sleep apnea
- Hematocrit elevated above safe range (we recheck regularly)
- Trying to conceive in the next 6–12 months (TRT suppresses fertility — we can talk about alternatives like SERMs)
- Severe untreated heart failure
- Normal testosterone with vague symptoms (we'll help you figure out what else might be going on)
What about HRT, peptides, and the rest?
Our main page is built around TRT because that's what most men come to us for. But our broader practice covers hormone replacement, peptide therapy, and other mens health needs. If TRT is the wrong answer for you but something else fits — we'll tell you and point you in the right direction.
